Dear West Bath School Parents,
I hope this message finds you all well. It was challenging to return to school today, knowing that we were not going to see any students come through the doors. The West Bath faculty has spent the day finalizing remote learning plans to help to keep our students engaged, challenged, and learning while the school building is closed to children.
All teachers have put together plans that they will further communicate with you and your students via email. There is a mixture of paper-based and electronic activities for your children to access, and teachers are planning on having crew-type activities as well. We were so grateful for your technology survey responses in advance of the closure, as we were able to create an opportunity for 100% of our students to have technology and internet access through this time period. Mr. Bowdish is available for families with any school technology questions that have. You can contact him at pbowdish@westbathschool.org. Once students have their packets, they can start them at any time. Teachers will begin with interactive portions of the remote plans beginning the week of March 23rd.
This Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 8-10 AM, we will have a “drive-through” packet pick-up in our school parking lot pick up line so that you are able to get the materials that your students need. If you are unable to pick learning materials up at that time, please reach out to me in advance and I’ll try to create an alternative option. Additionally, we have packed bags of food from our school’s food pantry that you are welcome to take as well if you need more food at home. The building will not be accessible to students and families after 10 AM on Wednesday.
We are in the process of opening up breakfast and lunch options for all children in West Bath. Our school nutrition staff will prepare meals, and Bath Bus Service will deliver them to your home for children. In order to determine if this is a need that you would like to access, please complete the survey at this link as soon as is possible: https://forms.gle/f8h9HNMQ8rJTmejB8
Our goal would be to have food service delivery begin next Monday, March 23rd. In the meantime, breakfast and lunch are available to any child at the Fisher Mitchell School or Dike Newell School from 10:30-1 PM Monday-Friday beginning tomorrow. No children will be turned away.
I realize that everyone in our community is under a great deal of stress and pressure at this time. If there is anything at all that you need to help to make your situation easier, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. We are here for you, and #WeAreCrew.
With regards,
Emily Thompson
